090430: Movie Review: Jangan Tegur

Back to Malay horror!

Not bad show this, and a good movie for its genre, but Pierre Andre sure made me cringe with his acting.

Pretty sensible plot as well and good scary moments spoiled by the audience (mostly Malays) who laughed out loud when their girlfriends had to scream.

One such girl caused the most rapturous laughter towards the end of the movie when the tension reached its climax.

Plot-wise, it is nothing new for a horror movie with a decent twist, re-shaped yet again.

I think this movie did scare myself silly at some level and because I did want to catch a good horror movie, which this movie certainly is, I rate it a 3.5 out of 5.

090429: Movie Review: House

I was just hoping that this is one of those cult horror movies that is actually enjoyable but at the end it was more of a torture.

Plot-wise, it hovers close to the maniacal and if it is really to be understood, think Angel and Death playing a game with 4 human beings who are at the point of either continue to live their lives on Earth or to certainly embark on a new journey in the afterlife.

The game itself is quite troubling. These 4 human beings have deep dark secrets kept inside them. While on some trips of one kind or another, they stumbled into the House, which is a bed-and-breakfast inn, managed by strange people.

But the House has a history in the form of Tin-Man. This horror combination manages to force these 4 human beings come to terms with these secrets and made them perhaps realise they could live their lives better, which ultimately is the objective of the game perhaps, those who live through the ordeal the House presented to them can continue their lives while those who cannot go on to the afterlife.

The movie is barely watchable. So I rate it 2.5 of 5.
