080316: Movie Review: The Spiderwick Chronicles

Feeling the effects of the exertion from soccer, it was little wonder I slept 40 winks and missed a good 15 minutes in the earlier part of the movie.

On the whole, the movie turned out exactly what I imagined it to be, as fantasy fiction is my cup of tea. I also like the child actor Freddy Highmore who acted in the movie adaptation of my childhood read-book 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory'.

Based on a novel, Freddy Highmore plays twins of two opposite nature. The more adventurous and naughtier twin (Jared) found a book that was written about 3 generations ago (80 years) by Arthur Spiderwick. The book chronicles the invisible world that co-exist the human world and contain tales of living things no human being knows other than the Spiderwick family, and now after being found, Jared, Simon (the other twin), Mallory (elder sister) and later in the movie, the children's mum. The book itself is the main source of most knowledge of that other world and all little and large details associated with that world, and as a result, is desired so voraciuosly by the antagonist of the movie.
Eventually... watch the movie...
I rate this movie 4 out of 5, though dear gave it a 3.5.
